Aperitivo 11 with Loukko on Jan 10

Lymy continues its series of monthly Aperitivo nights. We gather once a month to meet each other and enjoy some drinks and interesting conversation. Start your weekend with us at Lymy! Cash is queen. ♥

In this winter’s round of aperitivos we will be focusing on spaces. Our third aperitivo in the series is with the subcultural center Loukko. Loukko is a space on Castréninkatu 7 in Kallio, with diverse program and possibilities, it’s a gallery, stage, café, hangout space as well as a space for a wide array of workshops and events. Loukko provides a space for (sub)culture with a focus on safer space and accessibility.

We have given them the following questions as suggestions for what we might be interested in thinking about together with them on Friday and beyond: What are the political implications of having a space? How does having a space affect the collective? What are some challenges with having and maintaining a space and how do you deal with them? What made you decide to get a space?

The evening will consist of a very short introduction by us (starting at 6:30), a presentation by our guests (between 20-50 min) and some discussion followed by hanging out in a more informal setting till 9.

You are warmly welcome to the tenth Lymy Aperitivo to hear more from and about Loukko and spend a wonderful evening together!

How To Stay Lit — Lymy 4 Years

Four years of learning how to kindle a fire and—more importantly—keep it going. Of tending to the fickle flames that at times were reduced to little more than waning embers. And at others warmed our weary bones by bringing friends—old and new alike—together around the modest hearth of our ill-equipped kitchen. Four years of fanning the flames and feeding the fire by blowing kisses, hissing hexes, whistling comforting tunes. Learning how to care. How to neither burn out nor fade away. 𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝑜 𝓈𝓉𝒶𝓎 𝓁𝒾𝓉.

🔥

You are warmly welcome to join us on Friday the 13th of December (13.12.) at 18.00 in celebrating four years of Lymy and to attend the release party for our collectively written text based on discussions concerning the topics of reproduction, tactics and struggles of day-to-day life that have unfolded over the past 4 years in Lymy. The event starts with a discussion about the text and is followed by a four years party.

Schedule:

18.00 doors open
18.30 talk
19.30 party
22.00 doors close

In this winter’s round of aperitivos we will be focusing on spaces. Our second aperitivo in the series is with the collective behind Mustan kanin kolo (‘the black rabbit’s burrow’). Kolo is an antiquarian book store and infoshop located on the next block over from Lymy at Hämeentie 26. The store has been around for 10 years this fall so it’s only fitting that we have them over for our 10th aperitivo!

We have given them the following questions as suggestions for what we might be interested in thinking about together with them on Friday and beyond: What are the political implications of having a space? In our fall aperitivos we will be focusing on spaces. Our first aperitivo is with the collective behind Querq: “a quirky cultural space at Nilsiänkatu 10, Helsinki … [that] focuses on exploring intimacy, along with artistic expression, sex positivity and personal development.” “With radical kindness at [their] core, [they] aim to unravel taboos and stigmas with feminist, queer, spiritual and critical approaches.”

We have given them the following questions as suggestions for what we might be interested in thinking about together with them on Friday and beyond: What are the political implications of having a space?
